Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a fundamentally new type of medical diagnostic imaging modality. OCT performs high-resolution, micron-scale, cross-sectional, or tomographic imaging of the internal microstructure of the retina. OCT is a powerful imaging technology because it enables real-time in situ imaging of tissue structure in the retina with resolutions of 1-5 microns. OCT images can be captured rapidly without contact to the eye, does not require dilation, and can be instantly reviewed with our patients moments after the scan.
